Frontier Blacksmithing
(2 Day)

For those looking to have more hands-on time, join us for our two-Saturday basic blacksmithing class. Learn the fundamental skills and blacksmithing tools needed to forge. You’ll begin by building a coal fire and discovering the difference between iron, mild, and tool steel. Over the two days, you’ll blacksmith without modern tools to make nails, a nail header, a high carbon steel punch, and a pair of tongs. Classes are small so you have maximum anvil time and one-on-one instruction with an experienced blacksmith. No prior blacksmithing skills or knowledge is needed.

Class Time: Saturdays (2 Consecutive Saturdays) , 10:00am – 3:00pm (Excluding August and December)

Class Limit: maximum 2 students, must be 17 years or older*

Cost per Student: $250, price includes ten hours of instruction and all supplies

Pioneer Blacksmithing
(1 Day)

This one day class introduces students to the art of blacksmithing and is ideal for the busy student or younger student and parent. Learn the fundamental skills and blacksmithing tools needed to forge steel. Students will be introduced to some of the basic smithing techniques. Using these skills and a coal-fired forge, students will heat iron to forging temperature and with anvil, hammer, and tongs create several different decorative pieces such as nail and/or hook. Classes are small so you can have maximum one-on-one instruction with an experienced blacksmith. No prior blacksmithing skills or knowledge is needed.

Class Time: Saturdays, 10:00am – 3:00pm (Excluding August and December)

Class Limit: maximum 2,  must be 17 years or older*

Cost per Student: $130, price includes five hours of instruction and all supplies
